Giving this another try, too

2 month pledge

I pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 months. I pledge that i shall refashion, renovate, recycle pre-loved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings!
Signed, Emmy Jay

Here's what I'll be working with:
  • Existing wardrobe items, many of which are too big due to all the weight I've lost since last fall. At the very least, these need alterations, but while I'm at it, I might do some more interesting changes as well.
  • Thrifted items both from the "little" (OK, not to little) stash of these I've bought in the past with refashioning in mind and new-to-me things that I find (I'm currently on the lookout for a camel wool men's blazer to make into a jacket or vest for myself...)
  • Fabric stash, which is embarrassingly huge -- I am addicted to the Red Tag Fabric at Jo Ann's and Lorraine's Fabrics entire second floor, where everything is $1.99.
  • Yarn stash, which is also sizable; mostly bought on sale, or from the Bargain Bin in the back of the Yarn Shop or from the downright craziness of Pasa Yarns, the local mill ends store.
In addition to not buying any new clothing, I'm hoping to end up with a net decrease in my yarn and fabric stashes, which will mean I'll need to keep from making those kind of purchases just because they're good deals.
